Life on the streets of New Zealand for two homeless men: John, the older man, who seems to like this life and be at home here; and Elvis, the Marquesan, dreams of returning to his island.
SUMMARY
ELVIS
An adopted child from French Polynesia, Elvis was raised by his adoptive father who passed away in a car crash when he was 12. His adoptive mum couldn’t look after him and his siblings so Oranga Tamariki placed him with his Nana. She did her best to raise him but Elvis decided to take his life in his own hands, hanging out with other troubled kids. At age 15, he spent 3 years in Korowhai Manaaki (juvenile detention) for stealing cars and burglaries. After being released from detention, he lived with his Nana for 3 months then he decided to move in the streets.
JOHN
Street father. He's been living
in and out of the streets for 5 years.
He's been involved with drugs since he was a teenager. Following his son's suicide, John fell into a depression and left his wife and daughter and moved to the streets.
